This is a Palissy Monkey teapot with the hat forming the lid.
The creature is feasting upon a coconut clench between his hands. It dates to the latter part of the 19th century circa 1870’s 80’s when the ware had a renaissance. Palissy ware was originally made at Saintes in France and Portugal during the 16th century.
